Ash Fever & Coronavirus

Author: Tara Sim

Genre: Steampunk Fantasy, YA Fantasy

Do you like pirates? Do you like revenge stories? Do you like twists and turns? Well, you’re in the right place, because I just read you’re perfect book! Scavenge the Stars by Tara Sim is a beautiful story of just that! There are a couple of bloody scenes, but when dealing with revenge, it’s about to happen. I also started this book at a perfect time. While looking for revenge and uncovering the truth about family and city, the characters are also dealing with a disease that seems to be infecting people all over the city. Ash Fever, reminded me a lot of the Coronavirus. So perfect book to read while in quarantine, right?

I won’t lie; it did take me a while to get into this book. I picked it up and started once, but stopped after a few pages. I recently decided to give it another try since we are under quarantine, and I’m pretty I did! This book lost my attention a few times, but I was still able to finish this book pretty quickly!

We follow Amaya and Cayo as they both find out the truth of their families and themselves. The way their story intertwines with each other is so much fun, and I didn’t see parts of it coming! I also really love that that we get two sides to everything that was going on as well! Like most books, there was a small love triangle, but the feelings aren’t entirely there. I know it sounds confusing, but I don’t want to spoil it for you! We are all under quarantine, so we have the time.

This book was really good, but am I stoked for book 2? Honestly, not really, I might go ahead and buy it and read it, but I’m not going to be counting down the days. I feel like the story needed something a little extra to really put this book over the top. I can see a lot of people loving this book!
