This was a wild ride! The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue had history, love, flashbacks, present time, a supernatural being, and deals. If you are looking for a beautiful book to get lost in, this is it! V.E. Schwab did a fantastic job creating a story that is so easy to love and get wrapped up in! I read somewhere that she has been working on this book for ten years, and it honestly shows. This easily could be one of the best books published in 2020! This book took me on such a journey and is pretty fitting for whatever genre you read!

Summary
I’m going to try my very best to not give anything away here — We are told the events from a couple points of view, but the most prominent is Addie LaRue. She makes a deal that leads her to live forever, but no one can remember her. We get many flashbacks to the past and all of the problems she runs into. The only person who remembers her is the monster she made a deal with. He shows up at the most inconvenient times and spoils whatever fun she is having. One day another person remembers seeing her, and she can’t figure out why. He eventually reveals his secret, and they have to find a way to make things work.

Positives
This is the first V.E. Schwab book I’ve read, and it is one of the most beautifully written books. Everything in is book ties together so perfectly, and I love the past glimpses of her life. It’s perfectly written between the present time and the past. We keep seeing Addie at various historical events throughout her life and being a history major, I loved that. I also really love seeing her interact with people she’s spent the night with and people that she even just rents rooms from. For any of my Doctor Who fans out there, it was much like The Silence. The second that they looked away, they completely forgot who Addie was or even that she existed. The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue will take you on such a wild ride of emotions! Henry and Addie’s relationship is something that I really liked, but part of me wondered if she settled because he was the only person to remember her.
Negatives
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue was terrific! I’m just being picky with these little things. Other than no one being able to remember Addie, there wasn’t one overarching problem that kind of bothered me. I felt like something was missing from the book, and maybe this was it. The only big thing was at the end of the book, and everything was just setting up. It’s also a lot to digest, so I had to take a couple breaks, but it added to the story. It was a little predictable, but I like it because I didn’t want it to happen, so I kept thinking it wouldn’t. A few parts of the books seemed just to dragged on and weren’t really needed. The ending was so good, but then there was an epilogue type of chapter, and it honestly added nothing to the story. Also, it had a very slow beginning but did pick up, especially after Henry comes into the book.
In conclusion, read this book. It’s so good, and it really could be the best book in 2020. V.E. Schwab did an absolutely fantastic job with this book. I didn’t know if I would love this book, but geez, chef’s kiss to it. Let me know your thoughts down below!
