⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Genre: YA fiction

Fun fact, This is the first book I’ve read entirely on the Kindle, and now I love reading on the Kindle, so thank you Emily for that. I’ve had my eye on this book for a while now, but when I heard the squeal was coming out, I knew I needed to read this book ASAP! I’m so glad I did because this was just a beautiful book, and I can’t get enough. Plus, it has two POVs, and we all know I’m a sucker for that!

I’m not going to lie. When I started this book, I was a little confused, but soon came to figure it all out. The names are a little bit complicated, but it was easy to figure out somewhat what was going on and who the people were. Please don’t let stop you from reading this book. It is excellent!

I kind of have Red Queen vibes with this book. Instead of being separated by blood, it’s how they get their magic. Okay that might be the only similarity, but we all know that I find a way to bring Mare and the crew into the picture. In all seriousness, this book is kind of dark and violent. If you can’t do blood or violence, stay far away from this book!

I really wanted Malachiasz to be like Aang. We all knew he was going to play a big part, and I wanted him actually to save people, but no. Thank you, Malachiasz, for ruining all things good. I wanted him to be good. I liked the idea of him and Nadya, and I mean it can still happen, but I don’t think so. I would really like a love triangle to play into the story. I know everyone is kind of sick of them, but we always root for them! I would like to see something between her and Serafin really happen and share their magic..book two??

What did you guys think about the end of the book? I’m happy but also why? I liked Malachiasz, but I also love the twist! So many mixed feelings! I love this book so much, guys! One of my favorite books of 2020 so far! I HIGHLY recommend this book!

I really hope that book two includes more of the backstory of the magic. I feel like the magic kind of took a backseat in the story, and we don’t fully understand it. I also would really like a love triangle between Nadya, Malachiasz, and Serafin. Also, Serafin should be king since his father is now dead, what is happening with that? So many questions!
