The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes

It’s finally May! This means The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes is coming out soon! I am beyond excited about it! When it was first announced, I wrote an article of my thoughts about it, try to guess what could happen, and talked about some theories that were going around at the time, you can read that here. When I wrote it, I was going off of the theory that we were going to follow the first District 12 winner. Now we know we will be following Snow, and he will be mentoring a girl from District 12 during the games. We have 18 days until this book is released, and I’m freaking out!

My Theory

Okay, here me out on this. While reading an excerpt, I learned Snow is 18, the top of his class, from a well-known or influential family, which puts a lot of pressure on him. He is assigned a girl from District 12. From the research I did, the girl has the lowest training score out of all the tributes, which will make Snow’s task of making a winner harder. Now, I’ve been doing some research, and there have only been three District 12 winners, Haymitch, Katniss, and Peeta. So, I am assuming that his tribute dies like most District 12 tributes, and That is where his hatred for Katniss started. She was a strong girl who had a high training score, she was strong, and she was able to outsmart the game marker and Snow. President Snow could of have her killed at any time, but he didn’t, why? She reminded him of his tribute from college. He is bitter; she was better than his tribute, so he would ruin her life.

Thoughts

I am pretty excited about this book! Also, I like that we are going to see that the Capital was messed up before Snow came into power. I love to hate Snow, but not everything wrong in Panem came from him. Could he of fixed when he became president? Yeah, but maybe we will find out why in this book! I also am very intrigued to know if we will get to know what capital life is like! It does worry me that it could feel so different than the rest of the books because he won’t be fighting or struggling to survive in a district, but we will see! I still also really want Haymitch of Effie’s story! I feel those would be such good stories! Also, we already have talks about a movie?! Suzanne Collins, what are you doing to me?

The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes needs to be out now! I want to devour it and add it to my collection! What are your guy’s thoughts?
