WOWZA This was good! Going into the book, I wasn’t sure what to expect! It was a little bit of everything! We had Lord of the FliesA Handmaids Taleand a hint of The Hunger Games! This was a twisting tale that had me guessing, had me at the edge of my seat, and gave me all the feels! The Grace Year was magical and creepy, and I couldn’t stop reading it! This is one book where I would never want to visit! Especially as a sixteen year old!

Synopsis

In Garner County, girls are told they have the power to lure grown men from their beds, to drive women mad with jealousy. They believe their very skin emits a powerful aphrodisiac, the potent essence of youth, of a girl on the edge of womanhood. That’s why they’re banished for their sixteenth year, to release their magic into the wild so they can return purified and ready for marriage. But not all of them will make it home alive.

My Thoughts

The Grace Year is a complex and beautiful tale of a independent girl who wants a better life. I really could not put this book down! It was witchy and nerve wracking! Kim Liggett did such an amazing job with the world building and making a picture in your head. This was definitely a book that was more of a movie in your head rather than words on a page. I sat in my reading area and almost read this entire book in one sitting! This book needs more hype around it! The Grace Year was one of the best books I’ve read this year! While I did give this book five stars, there were some things that I would of changed. First of all, there is a love connection in the book, but it didn’t quite feel right. I found myself wanting this guy to die so that part of the story would be over. It would have bee nice to see a little more interaction with the grace year girls and how they survived.

I am so happy that I bought this book! It’s a book that I will reread when I need to get out of a reading slump! It’s so addicting and fun! I highly recommend this book! Let me know your thoughts about this book!
